FlyLady tells us to
un-clutter our lives, and I try-really. I understand her reasoning.
It is a reasoning that I have been familiar with since the 80's, after taking
this particular self-improvement course. Parts of me understand and do,
and parts say, "Whoa...I don't think so" and have good reasons for not
proceeding. There are some things I just can not fling! For instance, I
ran across a dinosaur of a PC while moving the contents of our shed. No
matter how many times her advise echoed in my mind to "fight it and fling it" I
just couldn't! Some old habits don't die overnight. I am convinced
that while practicing a new habit is good, some habits take as many years to
undo, as they did to do. So the pack rat in me kept the keyboard, knowing
that 'someday' it would come in handy.
Last week I found myself conducting business with a very "stuck up" keyboard.
It was past cleaning time and the coffee, tea, cracker crumbs and whatever else
that had taken up residence in there, was not going to give up their quarters
with a light tap upside down on the desk. lol Oh...I could just hear her
words telling me why and how to rid myself of that keyboard "goooo", and knew
that it was high time to just do it! Yep, you got it. I broke
the space bar and ...needless to say--LOST IT! How would I work? My
coworker was waiting on the IM for me to answer, all I could do was to type,
like so; I/broke/my/spacebar/and/can't/type/ohhhh/I/just/remembered/I/have/an/old/one/in/a/box/brb/lol
In addition to all this, I am at this moment using the old keyboard. And
yes, it is like an old friend that I couldn't just throw out.
Then there is the other side of me that says, "I should have just cleaned the
first one, long ago"...maybe she was right after all. :))
