Vitamin A has long been called the resistance vitamin. With the exception of Vitamin C, there is no other which can do so much to improve our health and strengthen our immune systems.

Working in conjunction with vitamins C and E, it detoxifies poisons. It also lubricates, moistens and strengthens the respiratory tract; which can give us relief from throat and nasal problems.

Now days, people use far too many inhalants and nasal “quick fixes” for their sinus ailments. Did you know that Nasal sprays only create mouth dryness, which only irritates the throat? If you take a bit more vitamin A it will increase your health and you will no longer be bothered with post nasal drip.

You actually “balance” the mucous secretions, and they function perfectly well on their own. I like to think it was a wonderful plan of God to find us these remedies for our problems…if we use them.  Here are a few foods that are high in Vitamin A. Organ meats (liver, giblets), Sweet potato, Pumpkin, Carrots and Carrot juice.

Read our next article, where we will concentrate a little more on Flu.

If you would rather take an oral Vitamin each day, I suggest the Water Dispersible Tablets from Nature's Plus Vitamins-90 Tabs of A 10000IU, and a good regulated dose.  Always check with your health care provider before taking any medications.

I also dose my children without their knowledge with liquid Vitamin C.

How to Fight Flu-Naturally

Bacteria and Flu can be fought with Vitamin A which provides our best defense against bacteria, and even better yet, invader viruses. Repeated experiments, at the National Institutes of Health and elsewhere, have proved that vitamin A can defeat the most stubborn and dangerous organisms. The Journal of Infectious Diseases reported that tests have proven Vitamin A to exhibit almost a warfare against viruses.

Viruses are parasites so tiny they can't be seen even under a microscope. (Update) Seven years later-they can and have identified even more! They attach themselves to a cell, "hatch" and send out hordes of offspring. Our most potent antibiotics have been helpless before viruses, which cause so many illnesses. Yet in similar experiments with vitamin A and several strains of virus, those increasing the Vitamin A had fewer symptoms and recovered faster.

Vitamin A is very protective. It enhances the immunological response of the body, which proves that this has broad implications from many facets of health concerns. Vitamin A works by stimulating the body's own immunity system. In short, this vitamin protects and defends us in several ways: First, by fortifying our epithelial armor to keep viruses out. Or, once they get in, by providing the ammunition and strategy (Vit.A and good health) to fight them.

Other great foods to get your Vitamin A today, might be Spinach, Collards, Kale, Mixed vegetables, Turnip greens, Instant cooked and various fortified ready to eat cereals.  See our other Vitamin ideas, and those high in Vitamin A in our other articles.

They say you are what you eat, and put onto your body. Here is one way to help your skin. An added bonus would also be that Vitamin A is a miracle for wrinkles too.  There are even anti-aging serums with Vitamin A as their base.
